The Sustainable Courtyard School Gallery
Courtyard houses, once a cornerstone of urban residential design across diverse cultures, have gradually faded from the architectural landscape. Yet, these homes embody centuries-old wisdom in sustainable architecture and urban living. This project delves into the enduring legacy of courtyard houses, comparing the Greco-Roman and Iranian approaches to domestic architecture. Despite their distinct climates and cultures, these regions developed remarkably similar house designs that have stood the test of time. By examining these structures through the lenses of society, culture, environment, and climate, this study aims to uncover the timeless principles that can inspire the future of sustainable urban living.
